The Academic Programming sub-board aims to facilitate intellectual engagement on campus by providing members of the IRC with quality academic events focused on the international relations realm. These events feature foreign policy practitioners, think tank experts, diplomats, foreign dignitaries, professors, and a range of other prominent figures, drawn from both government and academia. Past events have included lectures, discussions, and panels on topics as diverse as development, drug violence, and the EU debt crisis. The Foreign Policy Coffee Hour series, also within the purview of Academic Programming, promotes discussion of contemporary foreign policy issues, creating a forum for idea exchange between students over coffee and pastries. By presenting opportunities for foreign-affairs oriented engagement and outlets for dialogue and discussion, the sub-board seeks to instill in IRC members a passion for international affairs that goes beyond the classroom.
